We condemn the U.N. Security Council vote to approve the so-called “Gaza Peace Plan”. This plan is clearly imperialist in nature. This plan, drafted by U.S. President Trump, is not a step towards peace but towards further dispossession, displacement, and genocide forced upon Palestinians. This “peace plan” was created and passed without any input from Palestinians.
The plan provides for a so-called “Board of Peace” to take administration of Gaza; leadership of the board was granted by Trump to himself. We question how he can bring peace to Palestine while unleashing violence and fascistization in the country he leads, as we see in the ruthless destruction targeting the oppressed nations of the United States. One provision of the plan is the “demilitarization” of Gaza. We see the true meaning of this as being the disarmament of Palestinians and their leadership as expressed in the Resistance, giving yet another green light for the IOF to carry out genocide. The stated end goal of this plan is for Gaza to be governed by the so-called “Palestinian Authority”, a weak capitulator authority. Under the “governance” of the PA the West Bank is subjected to constant violence by settlers and the IOF.
The true purpose of the plan is revealed in Point 9: “This body will call on best international standards to create modern and efficient governance that serves the people of Gaza and is conducive to
attracting investment.” The plan is centered not around bringing just peace to the region, but to clearing the way for foreign imperialists to plunder Gaza’s economy.
The “ceasefire” in place has already been violated countless times by “Israel”, including through military actions and the withholding of humanitarian aid, with 242 Palestinians being killed since the “ceasefire” took effect in at least 282 separate violations as reported by Al Jazeera.
We reaffirm that our compass in standing in solidarity with Palestine is al-Thawabet (fundamental principles). We will continue standing with the Palestinians and their leadership, and reject any machinations for the future of Palestine which do not provide for:
– Right to resistance
– Right to self-determination
– Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine
– Right to return
As the news cycle fills with coverage of Iranian strikes on the Zionist state and vice versa, what is obscured is that the United States government, the European Union, and other allies are continuing to aid and abet the Zionists in facilitating a genocide against the Palestinian people. This is all directly funded by US taxpayer money, and flies in the face of the values of the American people.
Poll after poll shows that the American people view the Zionist state negatively and support Palestinian liberation, from the river to the sea. The Zionist escalation against Iran is not about Iran having nuclear weapons, it is not about Iran being a threat to the region, and it is certainly not about ‘defending human rights’. Our historical memory should not be so short as to forget that George W. Bush and his administration lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction in order to justify a war in which more than one million Iraqis were slaughtered.
In the end, the only winners were oil companies, weapons manufacturers, and the American ruling class. When US army veterans returned to this country, they were cast aside, VA funding was slashed, and they now represent a significant amount of the homeless population. This escalation against Iran is very dangerous, not because Iran might have an atomic bomb, but because the Zionists do have an atomic bomb and their nuclear doctrine–the Samson Option–states that they would rather nuke their enemies and significantly destroy the earth and its peoples than let their colonial state fall. The name of this doctrine is another example of the abuse of the Abrahamic faiths by the Zionists, who view themselves as Samson, David, and all of the believers who fought against the enemies of God in the Quran, the Bible, and the Torah. Rather they are the Pharisees, Jalut (Goliath), and the destroyers of faith.
This is a call on American workers to stand up against forever wars, to blend the movement against Trump with a movement against imperialism. Trump represents the worst of the American ruling class, but we cannot forget that the Democrats paved the way for Trump. The entire government apparatus is poised to send us head on into a war which has no winners. During the war in Vietnam, a large movement grew to stand against the war. The movement was not only conscientious objectors, but civil rights activists, women’s rights activists, and environmental activists, too. Even 20 years ago, the anti-war movement was full of the same crowds, only then they were agitating against war in Iraq. How will we honor their legacy? How will we Americans stand up against imperialism so that our nation is not scorned by the rest of the world because of the destruction of life and the planet that the ruling class has left behind in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Palestine, and countless other nations?
